Mountain Valley School District is accepting applications for the following positions:

Mountain Valley School District RE-1 is accepting applications for a SCHOOL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL. This position will be involved in providing prevention evidence-based education, screening and referrals with attention to substance abuse prevention, programming and counseling for students.

The position requires the following:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Nurse (BSN), School Counselor, School Psychologist, or School Social Worker.

  • Must currently hold or be in the process of obtaining a license (Professional Special Service Provider or temporary equivalent)  through The Colorado Department of Education.

 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Class instruction experience and background preferred

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule/days

  • Current CPR and First Aid training preferred

  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff members, students, community business members and the public, and able to work in a positive, productive manner in several environments

  • Ability to assist in the facilitation of work groups, meetings and informational briefings

  • Ability to maintain control under pressure and work under the constraint of deadlines

  • Possess adequate vision and hearing for the duties of the job

  • Possess good technology skills related to email, word processing, spreadsheet and other innovative software programs

  • Advanced working knowledge of the principles and procedures of business ethics, recruiting, soft skills and training for a variety of business situations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language and comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities

  • Possess skills to be able to utilize basic technology as directed by the District to communicate and function effectively as a 21st century employee

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

DUTIES:

  • Provide care coordination and connect students who are enrolled at Mountain Valley School with services that are provided by community-based organizations for treatment and counseling for students who are at risk for substance abuse.

  • Implement prevention activities that increase awareness, healthy decision making, peer and other resistance skills

  • Coordinate referrals to mental health, alcohol and drug treatment programs, and other community services for students in the program

  • Meet with students to plan and implement school-wide awareness activities

  • Serve as the health care consultant for school personnel, students and their parents/families

  • Identify the health care needs of the student population and secure information/resources to meet those needs

  • Participate in local community prevention activities

  • Assist in health/prevention curriculum development

  • Provide instruction prevention education, screening for early identification, and referral care coordination for secondary students

  • Collaborate in a positive manner with a wide variety of school professionals to enhance the education process and promote and optimal level of wellness for students, families and staff

  • Document, compile, and analyze data for required reports, then utilize such data for the improvement of school health/education services

  • Provide professional  leadership to administrators and school staff

  • Demonstrate the ability to develop positive relationships with staff, students, parents and community

  • Complete other related duties as assigned by District Administration

Mountain Valley School District is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2018-2019 school year.  

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) issues three types of substitute authorizations: 1-year authorization, 3-year authorization, and 5-year authorization. A substitute authorization allows you to work in a Colorado public school as a substitute teacher. The substitute authorizations are issued without grade level or subject endorsement area.

A one-year substitute authorization requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 

A three-year substitute authorization requires a bachelor's degree or higher.

A five-year substitute authorization requires a current or expired Colorado teacher's license/certificate or a current out-of-state teacher's license/certificate.
