Mountain Valley School District is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Cook for the 2020-2021 school year.




A staff member responsible for providing quality food service to students in support of their educational achievement.


High School diploma or G.E.D. minimum.

Experience in food preparation procedures for 50-100 meal servings.

Aptitude and competence to complete assigned responsibilities.

Ability to follow instructions and work as a team member.

Such alternatives to the “above qualifications” as the School Board may find appropriate.


Kitchen Leader and Food Service Director


Prepare and serve students safe, attractive, and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness.


It is imperative that the person employed in this position display, at all times, acceptable, professional, and ethical standards. These expectations are as follows, but are not limited to:



Cooperation and a positive attitude.


Timeliness in respect to deadlines.

Respectfulness toward others.



Assists in the preparation and serving of food in a quick and pleasant manner.

Assists in maintaining a cost-effective school food service program.

Responsible for ensuring that during meal service, the supply of food offered is replenished regularly and that proper food temperatures are maintained at all times.

Assists in the daily cleaning of the kitchen, equipment, serving, and eating areas. Must know HACCP.

Performs major cleaning of equipment and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals.

Maintains a professional cordial attitude with all school and kitchen staff.

Follows all guidelines given by CDE and USDA.

Performs duties necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the cafeteria and serving areas.

Finishes all tasks in a timely manner.

Shares duties such as computer input, paperwork and rotation schedules.

Can lift 20-25 pounds.


142-day assignment, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day.

Employee shall have a 90-day probationary period, after which the district will evaluate progress.

Mountain Valley School District is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2020-2021 school year.  

The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) issues three types of substitute authorizations: 1-year authorization, 3-year authorization, and 5-year authorization. A substitute authorization allows you to work in a Colorado public school as a substitute teacher. The substitute authorizations are issued without grade level or subject endorsement area.

A one-year substitute authorization requires a high school diploma or equivalent. 

A three-year substitute authorization requires a bachelor's degree or higher.

A five-year substitute authorization requires a current or expired Colorado teacher's license/certificate or a current out-of-state teacher's license/certificate.
