Alpine Achievers
Our Mission
Alpine Achievers Initiative (AAI) inspires, connects, and nurtures youth, families, and communities in rural Colorado.
Our Vision
Our vision is to offer relationship-based and clearly defined organizational structure and services that support accessible, transformative experiences for all involved with AAI. We aim to be responsive to partner and community needs through a culture of service quality, expertise, and exclusivity.
AAI has three major programs: Valley to Valley (V2V), AmeriCorps, and Backyard to Backcountry (B2B)
Valley to Valley Homeschool Programs
Valley to Valley is a Homeschool Enrichment Program providing a range of weekly activities that emphasize five key areas: arts, adventure, nature, movement, and socialization. Though our programs are structured with specific learning objectives, they are all centered around socialization and exploration. Families interested in homeschooling can join this program by enrolling through AAI as part-time students with the Mountain Valley School District. AmeriCorps Programs
Every year, AmeriCorps members nationwide converge in Southern Colorado to join Alpine Achievers Initiative’s mission of serving rural youth. Members are placed at sites throughout South-Central Colorado to provide academic interventions or facilitate out-of-school-time programs. One of the host sites for this program is Mountain Valley School. To learn more and enroll today, visit: https://alpineachievers.org/americorps-programs/
Backyard to Backcountry Outdoor Programs
Our Backyard to Backcountry programs aim to cultivate a profound sense of belonging in natural environments. These programs are currently available through our AmeriCorps initiative, which helps newcomers to the area explore local natural spaces, and through Alpine Adventurers, which offers 12-15-year-olds in the San Luis Valley access to a spectrum of outdoor adventures, environmental conservation initiatives, educational opportunities, cultural experiences, social interactions, and ongoing mentorship.
